The reception hall was just as elegant as the chapel. When we walked in, the deejay cut the music and announced our arrival to all our family and friends.

“I am honored to announce Mr. and Mrs. Zander Ashton James.” At that moment, the music came back on. It was the song we had chosen for our first dance; XO by Beyoncé.

Zander and I danced all night. Finally, I was Mrs. Zander James. I looked around and saw how happy everyone was and how well they all were getting along. I had noticed at the door that Ms. Shari and some man were having an intense conversation. I also noticed how intently Zion was watching them.

“Who is that man your mom is talking to?” I asked Zander pointing in the direction of the doors.

He immediately paused. He looked at Zion who was now looking at Zander. “I will be back.” He walked off without further explanation.

He and Zion went and joined the heated conversation, before taking it in the hallway so no one would hear. About five minutes later, they returned without the mysterious man. Zander joined me at the table with a fake smile on his face. Whoever the man was, he must have rattled Zander. I had only seen him look like that one other time. It was when his estranged father had called him out of the blue.

“Is everything okay, baby?” I asked him.

“Yes, everything is fine. Are you ready, Mrs. James?”

“Yes, I’m always ready, Mr. James.”

My parents’ wedding present to us was a fourteen-day honeymoon at the Radisson Blu Resort Marina and Spa in St. Martin. When we landed, there was a towncar waiting for us to take us to the resort. The island was so beautiful that I would have given anything to live there. The resort was located on the beautiful beach of white sand and crystal clear blue water. We walked into the lobby to check in to our suite.

When we got to our suite, there was an assortment of tropical fruit, a bottle of Cristal, and two champagne flutes. There was also a card that read:

‘To the beautiful couple on their special day. May you be as blessed and happy in love forever.’

It was from Sasha and Jeremy.

Zander opened the champagne and poured our glasses for a toast. “To the love of my life,” he said before our glasses kissed with a chime.

I was the happiest and luckiest woman in the world. I wrapped my arms around my husband’s neck and pulled him to me for a deep kiss.
